Victor's Landscaping has been laying pavers and building hardscape in the Phoenix West Valley since 1999. We work with homeowners and property managers across Peoria, Glendale, Scottsdale, Surprise, Avondale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Sun City, and Phoenix proper. As a licensed Arizona contractor (ROC #207713), bonded and insured, every job comes with a clear scope, proper permitting guidance when required, and workmanship you can hold us to.

Desert hardscape is not the same as hardscape anywhere else. Concrete pavers expand and contract in triple-digit summer heat, and a monsoon can move a poorly prepared base overnight. We use compacted aggregate base depths and edge restraints sized for Sonoran conditions, not minimums suited for milder climates. The result is a driveway, patio, or walkway that stays level, drains correctly, and still looks good a decade from now.

Why Choose Victor’s for Pavers & Hardscape

Heat-Rated MaterialsWe specify concrete and travertine pavers rated for sustained Phoenix temperatures so surfaces resist fading, spalling, and shifting through years of summer heat cycles.
Monsoon-Ready Base PrepEvery installation starts with a properly compacted decomposed granite and crushed aggregate base designed to shed flash-flood runoff and resist the soil movement Arizona storms cause.
Curb Appeal That Adds ValueA well-designed paver driveway or patio is one of the highest-return exterior upgrades for Phoenix properties, improving first impressions and appraised value without ongoing maintenance demands.
Licensed Since 1999ROC #207713 means we are accountable to the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, giving homeowners and property managers a direct line of recourse and a contractor with 25-plus years of local track record.

How It Works

  1. 1Free On-Site QuoteWe visit your property, assess the existing grade and drainage, and measure the space so the estimate reflects real site conditions, not guesswork from a photo.
  2. 2Design & Material SelectionWe walk you through paver styles, colors, and patterns that suit your home's exterior and hold up in the Arizona climate, from travertine to concrete unit pavers in multiple profiles.
  3. 3Base Excavation & CompactionThe site is excavated to the correct depth for Phoenix soil conditions, filled with compacted base material, and graded to direct water away from the structure and toward proper drainage paths.
  4. 4Paver Installation & FinishingPavers are set, cut to fit, and locked in place with commercial-grade edge restraints and polymeric jointing sand that resists ant intrusion and weed germination in the desert heat.

Pavers & Hardscape FAQs

What types of pavers work best in the Phoenix heat?
Concrete unit pavers and natural travertine are the most common choices for the Phoenix metro. Travertine stays cooler underfoot in direct sun, which matters on a pool deck or bare-foot patio. Concrete pavers are durable, widely available in many profiles, and easier to repair individually if one unit ever needs replacement.
How long does a paver patio or driveway installation take?
Most residential paver projects take between two and five days depending on size and site conditions. Larger driveways or projects that require significant grading or retaining wall work will take longer, and we will outline the realistic timeline in your quote.
Do pavers require a lot of maintenance in Arizona?
No. Pavers are low-maintenance compared to poured concrete or asphalt. We recommend re-sanding the joints every few years and a light rinse after heavy monsoon dust storms. Individual pavers that crack or shift can be pulled and reset without disturbing the surrounding installation.
Can Victor's build a retaining wall as part of the project?
Yes. Retaining walls are a common part of our hardscape work, particularly on Phoenix-area lots with grade changes or sloped yards that need to be terraced for usable outdoor space. We design the wall to handle the lateral pressure and drainage demands specific to your site.
Do I need a permit for a paver driveway or patio in Phoenix?
Permit requirements vary by city and project scope across the Phoenix metro. Retaining walls over a certain height and driveways that change the approach to a public street are common triggers. We will let you know during the estimate whether your project is likely to require a permit and can advise on next steps.

What Phoenix-area customers say

We had Victor's update our front and back yards in South Tempe. We are very pleased with the work they did. We worked with Ana to design and pick out plants. We were looking for low water use desert plants. She offered a great selection for us to chose from. The crew that did the demo work, planting, sprinklers and rock were great. Jose and his crew were prompt, professional, effiecent and pleasant to work with. We will now also be using their crew for monthly maintenance and have high hopes that they won't disappoint. But as of now we highly recommend Victor's for your landscaping needs.

Irrigation & Sprinklers
We have Victor's Landscaping spray our olive tree every year to reduce the amount of olives it produces. Very happy with their sevice. Last summer the shrubs in front of our house succumed to aphids. These were 20 year old Indian Hawthornes with very large trunks and deep roots. In less than an hour the Victor's team had all 20 feet removed and the ground raked. The even raked up the olive leaves from the gravel and pruned another 20 feet of Yellow Bells in the back yard from 8 feet tall down to 4 feet. We would highly recommend them to anyone!
